MRC OPERATIONS |

|
The heart of the MRC Operations was the TCC Traffic Control Console. Here the state of all incoming and outgoing routes could be seen along with the availability of common storage equipment, seen on the two meters in the top center of the desk. The desk was staffed by OT Supervisors on a continuous basis, this first picture is of Jim Gould. This picture was taken from the contractor's (MEL) brochure. |

The second picture shows one the Semi Automatic Routing Positions (known as "SARPS") telegrams that could not be handled automatically would be presented one of two teleprinter 15s at each of these operating positions where the Overseas Telegraph Operator (OTO) would decide where to route the telegram and send it on using the key switches at the front of the desk. I am not sure who this is in the photograph but I think he was a supervisor pulled in to pose for this shot. |
